While a Family Member Is Away at Camp
Keeping in Touch with Your Camper
MAIL - The easiest way to contact your camper is to secretly leave letters, cards, or packages in our daily Snail-Mail Pail on Check-In Day to be delivered by the staff during supper. Of course, you may also send letters and packages through the traditional postal service. A fun tradition is for all campers who receive a package or three or more letters in one day to sing as a group. When you write to a young child, be careful NOT to go into too much detail about the things they're missing. This may contribute to or initiate homesickness.
E-MAIL – Currently we are not equipped to receive e-mails for your child.
PHONE - (Only for Emergencies) - It is CILCA's policy that campers and volunteers under the age of 18 are not allowed to carry mobile phones or receive calls from home except in case of an emergency. Talking on the phone to family members usually intensifies feelings of homesickness. We will contact you immediately if there is a serious problem.

Campers Keeping In Touch With You
MAIL - You may want to give your child addressed & stamped envelopes / postcards to write to you or to friends & relatives. When you write to your child, be careful NOT to go into too much detail about the things they're missing. This may contribute to or initiate homesickness.
PHONE - Campers and volunteers under the age of 18 are not allowed to use any phone without permission. A camp staff person will try to call immediately about any sickness, serious injury or other problem that needs a parent's attention. If a phone call home by the camper is necessary, a camp staff person will initiate the call and/or be near the camper during the call. If the call was initiated due to sickness or homesickness, the staff person will also conclude the call to verify any specifics that need to be discussed.
Pray
Even though this is listed last, it is NOT the least important. Pray that the Lord Jesus would bless your camper(s) through His Word that they may grow in faith and love. Pray that all campers stay free from injury and sickness. Pray for campers to make new and lifelong friendships. Pray for safe travel to and from camp. Pray that the CILCA staff would be excellent Christian mentors for the campers under their care.
